Protein - macronutrient information

Protein is one of three very important macronutrients to consume in the diet. It has is vital to many important functions including:

* Building and repairing tissues such as muscles, tendons, hair, nails, and skin.

* Developing a strong immune system

* Turning on the liver and boosting metabolism

* Keeping blood sugar and appetite stable

Try to get as many fresh sources of protein as possible including: beef, chicken, pork, fish, eggs, milk, yogurt/greek yogurt, cheese, whey protein, legumes, nuts, and seeds. Whey protein in particular is looking very impressive in research studies. It is proving to be a superior muscle building-fat burning source of protein.

It is important to try to get a quality serving of protein at each meal. In particular, make sure you have protein at breakfast as it will kick-start your metabolism and help keep your blood sugar stable.

  3. Hey Reagan. Greek Yogurt is yogurt that is strained to produce a more fluffy, creamier consistency. It is generally higher in protein. Like most yogurt, it contains friendly flora (probiotics) which help balance your digestive system and boost your immunity.

I will try to write more about protein in the future. If I don't, just remind me on the blog again soon!

  4. What can you also do to boost your metabolism without eating protien in the morning?

  5. You can do a 3 minute HIIT workout - just do some really intense exercise! Get your heart rate way up. A combination of squats, push-ups, planks, and running would be awesome

  7. Best tasting smoothies - I like to combine pineapple, berries, mango, bananas -- try different combinations. Pineapple + mango, pineapple + strawberry, strawberry banana, strawberry banana blueberry. I usually mix the fruit with some ice, almond or dairy milk, and occasionally some plain or vanilla whey protein. Experiment with it - it can be fun!
